Day 5-Acadian Days Festival at Grand-Pré

After a restful evening at the beautiful Old Orchard Inn in Wolfville, we set out for a day of fun at the Acadian Days Festival at the Grand-Pré historic site.

The festivities began with a talk by Lucie LeBlanc Consentino followed by a tour of the museum and the beautiful grounds. Everyone was moved by a reading of the declaration of deportation inside the Memorial Church, in French, foreign words to most of us, but a demonstration of what our ancestors went through when the declaration was read to them in English. The 22-minute video is a must-see.

We rounded out the day with a view of the Annapolis Valley from Lookout Point and a visit to Horton Landing, the spot where many of our ancestors stepped foot on Acadian lands for the last time.
